This was home to the Okinawa hard-man. Zampa’s steep walls offer routes from 5.8 to 5.13. Don't let this fool you into thinking you can spend the day here. With only two routes easier than 5.12, your day may end quicker than anticipated. Routes here follow sharp, small crimps on overhanging limestone. It's not uncommon to be eight to ten meters from the wall when you lower from the anchors here.
From Kadena Circle: Head North on Highway 58 for 9.2 KM to the intersection of routes 6 (Lawson on the left). Turn left on route 6, then drive 5.6 KM to a right curve in the road. From this curve go straight. Follow this road to the end.
Hoofing It: When you reach the parking lot, you will see the Bolo Point Light House. From the lighthouse follow the paved trail north (the ocean will be over your left shoulder) until you pass the castle ruins. Approximately 100 meters after the ruins, you will see a handrail. From the handrail continue north along the top of the cliff until you see the rappel station. Rappel. The only way out of Zampa once you rappel is to climb. The route is 5.9 and almost always wet. Leave a fixed rope and be-prepared.
